Listen with the audio reader
Expand Audio Reader and listen using supported on-device voices, with simple speed controls.
Open Audio Reader
Audio Reader is collapsed by default so the Hub stays compact. Open its heading to reveal playback and reading speed. Playback starts only when you choose Play or a supported spoken reading command. It does not replace your screen reader.
Playback and reading speed
- Open Accessibility, then expand Audio Reader.
- Choose Slow 0.75×, Normal 1×, Faster 1.25×, or Fast 1.5× from the native Reading speed dropdown.
- Choose Play. Pause or resume with the playback control; Stop ends playback.
- Stop voice listening if you want to avoid overlapping audio. ADAR pauses command listening when a reading command starts playback.
Voice choices
ADAR prefers suitable local device voices and limits the list to a few relevant choices. When only one suitable voice is available, the chooser can be hidden. Voice quality depends on the browser and installed device voices; a particular human-sounding voice cannot be guaranteed on every device.
No on-device voice
A missing local voice can leave Play, Pause, and Stop disabled with an explanation. Enable a voice in the device speech settings, check volume and output, and try again. Microphone recognition is separate: the Audio Reader can be unavailable while voice commands work, or the reverse.
Which text is read
Ordinary supported website text and expanded readable PDF content can be used for reading. Image descriptions and extracted document text depend on the source and available processing. Review important prices, instructions, or document details against the source.
